Style Hacks: Men's Style Made Simple.

Conceptualised by Martin Reynolds Jr.

HIATUS KAIYOTE:

NAKAMARRA

“A delicious cocktail of modern jazz, polyrhythmic time structures, labyrinthine explorations of 1970s funk, scat-singing, samba and West African soul…”

This track also features the legendary Q-Tip from A Tribe Called Quest and helped Hiatus Kaiyote to become the first ever Australian act to be nominated for an R&B Grammy.

Love the waves that these guys are creating… Very organic and effortlessly cool. Keep an eye of these…

JEREMIH x J. COLE:

PLANES

So, it’s been a big year for both these artists. J. Cole did his Forest Hills thing all year (and was probably the best live concert i’ve ever been too) and now Jeremih has released his latest works, entitled: Late Nights. Nice album, classic sexy r&b sound with a couple of well placed features from big hitters like Jhene Aiko, Big Sean, Future and Juicy J.

Planes is my favourite track though… something about that beat, the slow flow and J. Cole’s punchlines that keep this on repeat. Good music.

G-EAZY ft. BREEZY:

DRIFTING

G-Eazy getting them Easy, G!

Been backing young Gerald for a while now… I’m feeling that lazy, simple style he brings. Chris Brown is on this track to add that classic Breezy R&B sound. (Challenge you not to be singing along to that chorus…)

Big Tune. The whole album is big actually. ‘When It’s Dark Out’ was released a few weeks ago and is a vibe. Kinda prefer his older stuff to be honest, but this one has still be on repeat for a while now.

Catch G-Eazy performing in London real soon too.

ANDERSON PAAK:

THE SEASON / CARRY ON

Sitting somewhere between The Weeknd, Frank Ocean and Kendrick Lamar - Anderson Paak brings that electro, synth beat and smooth laidback hip hop vibes. Heavily involved in Dr. Dre’s Compton project, the up and coming Afro-Korean rapper has now also release an EP called ‘Venice’ which is dope af.

You’ll love this one.

LOYLE CARNER:

OCTOBER

Loyle Carner is an artist who talks about the issues closest to his heart: family, and dealing with adulthood. He made his breakthrough with the EP ‘A Little Late’, back in September 2014, seven months after his stepfather died, and shot through with a painful intimacy and blunt honesty.

Extremely laid-back and soulful, the South London kid is a very British throwback to classic 90s hip-hop sounds from the likes of Gang Starr and A Tribe Called Quest.

Check him out on soundcloud and catch that vibeee…

DORNIK:

DRIVE

Ok, this right here is one very soulful dude.

Dornik is Straight Outta London and recently signed to PMR. In fact, he used to be Jessie Ware’s drummer until people finally realised that he is all kinds of dope on the mic. There’s even a hint of MJ in that soulful voice…

If you like your R&B soulful, electronic and old skool - you’re probably gonna love this guy.

RALEIGH RITCHIE:

NEVER SAY DIE

I don’t even really know how to sum up Raleigh Ritchie’s sound… He is the very definition of modern British fusion. Elements of soul, hip-hop, rock, pop explode out of the speakers on a Ritchie track.

Stronger Than Ever is probably his most recognisable track, used heavily on adverts and enjoying much radio play, but Never Say Die is definitely the one I bang the most!

This is a track to play through the stereo and turn up loud AF, because that drop is serious…
